Nurses’ Burnout in Oman and Other Developing Countries: Studies and Recommendations
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 4 page paper discussing nurses’ burnout. Nurses’ burnout is a global problem which is considered more severe in developing countries due to the initial high patient nurse ratio and the increased number of health care workers which leave developing countries for other opportunities. While the Sultanate of Oman has a fairly large nursing population, over 70% of the nurses are foreign born leaving Oman even more vulnerable to the departure of a large portion of its nurses. The Ministry of Health within Oman has undergone several initiatives which will hopefully help to retain the current nursing population such as increasing the percentage of Omani and adopting international nursing standards, but in addition, the administrators responsible for the well being of nurses in Oman may wish to consult worldwide studies on nurses’ burnout which indicate that environmental factors such as resource availability, supervisor support, length of stay in high demand departments and overall “empowerment” within the workplace among many other factors are equally important in decreasing emotional exhaustion and stress which leads to burnout.

Resource Wars: War Over Caspian Oil and Other Reserves
[ send me this paper ]
If the U.S. were to lose control of the world’s resources, the country would come to a very quick stop and lose all rights to the world supremacy it currently enjoys. To prevent the end of God’s country, the George W. Bush Administration has proclaimed war against an “axis of evil” that has to do with any country or leader that prevents the U.S. from this goal. To win, as defined by the United States government, means controlling world oil, water and mineral resources. The axis of evil identified by Bush incorporate the non-participating countries in the Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, and South China Sea that now harbor most of the world’s resources. These countries will not be allowed to prevent the U.S. from remaining the world’s most powerful nation in terms of resources, no matter the cost. Specific arguement based on Michael Klare's Resource Wars. 2 works cited. jvCspoil.rtf

Root Cause of Problems in the Middle East
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page research paper that argues that the root cause of problems in the Middle East is the continuing legacy of colonialism. Many members of the general public in Western countries are mystified by the problems originating in the Middle East and the threat of global terrorism. After the terrorist attacks on the US of September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush characterized the terrorists as hating liberty and American values. This is one of the views that has remained prominent as the root cause of problems of the Middle East, i.e., Islamic rigidity. Thus discussion of the root cause of conflicts in the Middle East will demonstrate that simply focusing on Islamic fundamentalism is too simplistic as this overlooks the impact of Western actions in the region and the continuing legacy of colonialism. A 23 page paper presenting a case study of Saudi Arabia's Jarir Bookstore in the first part, followed by another section identifying several strategic issues that can be used as points for discussion of the case. Jarir Bookstore is Saudi Arabia's leading computer hardware and software retailer. Most companies find sweeping economic changes challenging enough, without also having to deal with changing social values. Jarir Bookstore's position is that it already has begun addressing both. It will need to develop a clear strategy for itself for the future, one that will be beneficial for the company's financial future as well as be acceptable to Saudi society.
